hard braking after braking from 120 then 145...pretty but not good for a car

theres no thing wrong with bedding in your brakes properly :P just dont glaze them.

What kind of brake fade were you getting at the end of that? I know my current brake setup (cheap Autozone pads, fixing that when I put the 5 lug swap on) would have faded into oblivion by then.

Also, your sig doesn't say what kind of pads you keep on there.

I had some genric pads on my TII...after some serious back road flogging I could get the rotors to glow and smoke to come from my pads...lots of it.

And dude...I know you love you mom...but if you make one more thread that starts, "Look mom...." We are gonna start thinkn' you miss her in that....special way

 

You may want to consider carbon metallic pads, they tolerate high temperatures better than semi metallics.

 

my car has some silly autozone pads from the last owner.. slotted rotors and better pads are in the mix.... those pictures were after breaking hard twice.. but i know my pads are kinda low i can hear the heat build up at normal driving.

Your subtitle is "I hate ricers", yet you're suggesting slotted/drilled rotors?

Most recent research shows that drilled rotors are basically useless (less contact area, greater chance of cracking at high temperature, and modern brake pads don't gas like the old ones did), and slots are of limited use (they help some, but can increase brake pad wear significantly).

The best rotors are good vented blanks. If I were to do a lot of track work, I'd get the two piece rotors (the rotor is free to expand without warping things), but a slotted/crossdrilled rotor is an expensive way to break a rotor when you actually put it to use.

Yep, you are 100% correct and I'm glad you pointed that out. I was going to but didn't want to offend too many people my first day as a member to this site.

 

haven't read up on it........ I claim ignorance. The way I understood it was that it allowed for the gasses, that create brake fade, to exit......no?

 

^ yeah that was the idea, but as he just mentioned, new brake pad compounds don't produce the amount of gas old ones did. So really the only benefit is increased cooling which is then countered by the less friction surface. Good to know, thanks for the info.

im seriously getting agitated i have no idea what kind of brake pads to get... i do VERY VERY VERY hard mountain driving from time to time. and my car sees 130+ every weekend. BUT i cant go over 100 bucks on pads... axxis metal masters????
