i have a few japanese RX-7 magazines my gf got me, and like 90% of the FC's in there have this sort of nose. where the middle of the molding is cut out...i guess to allow more air to the radiator or if the intercooler extends up that far. but does anyone really make this nose? i've never seen it on a site. or do they just make a template and cut it out. to be honest i think it looks pretty cool maybe i'll do it one day.....here was just an example on photoshop

 

People do the same thing with my car (944 turbo)...some people just very carefully cut it out of the nose panel, others buy a fiberglass nose replacement piece. Bodyshops would be able to do this sort of mod...and in my car at least, the intercooler is right there so you get more airflow to it. Here is a picture of a 944 turbo with the same mod:

I think the front end you're talking about might be the Feed front end, not just a homemade front end with a hole cut in it. I also think there was a post on it somewhere recently (3-4 days), but I don't quite know how far back it would be by now....

 

yeah, i saw the FEED lip here http://www.rxecret7.com/feed-26.html but i was guessing that was just the front spoiler. you're prob right though....i guess i just gotta find a place that deals the whole nose

that first picture looks like someone took a picture of the stock FC front and used photoshop to paint a black line on it hehehe...
