lol "knight sport chip"

i was surfing ebay, (got my knight sport fcd on there) and i bought the extremely inexpensive ($15 including shipping) "knight sport ecu chip" from a vendor named "civic-chips"

basically just to check it out. i got it today. har har. ill be damned if this is going into my car! ive attached a pic, sorry my sidekick has such bad resolution, but here is what is written on the chip:

KNIGHT SPORT
13BT - N374
REV LIMIT: NONE

it is printed on sticky paper and stuck on there. the prong side reads "made in taiwan"

it was shipped with a socket as well, so i can remove my stock chip, solder in the socket, and then its easy to swap my stock chip back in! (when my motor pops i assume)

anyone have any experience with these? this post is basically a warning, this doesnt look like anything knight sport would put out, and i cant find it on the knight sport website.

let me know if anyone has used one?

also it came with a link to instructions on installation:

if you do plan to un solder your chip please be careful not to burn your board. if you have a thin copper wire around wrap it around your solder iron to make a fine point to touch each pin separtly.

Find a second ecu and put it in there. Pretty easy to swap them out and see if it works. If it doesn't, put your original ecu back in and sell the modified one to a Honda tuner on e-bay

What the hell did you expect? It's an EPROM chip that replaces the stock values with it's own modified version (either code, or simply stored tables, whatever), any chip is that way, RTEK, knight sport, etc. All these guys do is buy the original, and dump the image then duplicate it and resell it for less. The only thing is, Knight sports and most others required you to send the ECU in, and they did the soldering and put the chip in, rather than requiring you to do it. I really don't see what your issue is, you got what you paid for, so what exactly is the problem?

Most real Japanese rotary tuners don't sell "chips," they sell complete ECU's with reprogrammed ROM, or at least they reprogram a customer's ECU for them. Or they sell standalones with their own settings. And there's a real easy way to see if it's a real one... they cost $800-1000 new, that's how.
