It lives!

After 4 months of not running my 87 TII is finally up and running again. I haven't been able to work on it because I have no garage and it has been too cold and snowy. Finally I got a good day and my friend and I worked on it.

Originally we thought the starter was bad because it wasn't starting. We took the starter and tested it and it was cranking. It turned out all it needed was a good cleaning. Saved myself a good $100.

I was actually pretty surprised it started right up after sitting for so long. After driving it for a little bit and waiting for it to warm up I got onto the highway and punched it in 2nd gear. Got up towards redline and hear a loud pop. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw my car spit out all the stuff that must have collected in my engine over that time span.

But one thing is for sure. I will never EVER drive my RX7 in sub freezing temps again. Even though it was dry out, it was constatnly wanting to get away from me. It actually went sideways a couple of time I was making a simple turn :-\

I hope you changed and flushed all fluids and threw a new tank of gas in it before doing that.... A steam bathe never hurt either.

It was almost empty on gas anyways so I ran that out and filled it up (premium 93 at $2.00 a gallon empties my wallet )

Still needs a bath and it does still need an oil change. Didn't have enough time for those today though but they will be done next week

Just for future reference, its better to leave that little bit in and fill it (or atleast put 10 bucks in). The reason for that is if there is condensation in the tank it will be in a higher fuel:h2o (when the gas is low) ratio than compared to when the tank is full.
