I have a 89 NA that I swapped with a JDM turbo. I swapped all the normal stuff like new harness,maf,turbo sensor. The engine runs great. Can rev up no problem. When I go to drive it is when the problem starts. 1st gear pulls great sometimes 2nd OK but always by the time I hit 3rd it goes into limp mode. I check for MIL code but get none. Is there a way that I can systematically test for what may be causing the limp mode. I removed the waste gate and actuator and it works fine. I sure would like to take this for a ride before winter sets in.

Ah, I misunderstood. I read as if you removed the waste gate and just left it off. I was wondering what you had hoped to accomplish aside from dump all your boost...
I was under the impression that a faulty OMP causes limp mode. Has it been doing this since the swap?
