LIM - Can't use long bolt? WTF

Always wondered about this....On my engine (Atkins rebuild) there is no hole/threads for the long bolt that goes thru the middle of the LIM.

So what intermediate housing is in that engine?

Thanks

JAmes

Yeah, I might need to do that.

How is the NA intermediate different than a TII intermediate? on S5s?

Go here http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-2.htm and you'll see both na and turbo one above the other. Not a pretty site. Who rebuilt that engine??????????

Thanks ... that is a good way to look at it.

Atkins redid the engine.

They did a streetport on the engine. I guess I will find out what it really looks like tomorrow when I split the engine.

So, what are the differences in the intermediate housings...s5 na vs. s5 tii?

Thanks!

OOOps. Sorry, had my head stuck up my dark spot when I wrote that above. I got to looking at the end housings and got real excited. I forgot your talking about the intermediate housing. That part of the gasket looks similar so there does not look to be a flow problem. Sorry, never seen a series five na..turbo side by side. Shoulda kept my fingers off the keypad. Have a good tear down.

Hoping to have a jolly good one today...but that freaking eshaft bolt up front held strong against my 240ft lbs impact wrench. Need to take the engine somewhere tomorrow...that has a better gun than I

If you can lock the flywheel down, you should be able to get a breakover on it and a long pipe on the breakover to get it off.

If nothing else.....a beakover and socket then strike the breakover with a twenty lb sledge hammer repeatedly. Not wind up and hit, but several solid blows.

Ended up taking the enigne to a shop that had a stronger gun than I....so that held off a lot of cussing They sure locktighted that thing hard. Seemed like the torque setting was 90ftlbs.

yeah that bolt is a bitch! the manual says to put lock tight on it AND torque it to 90 ft/lbs.

we had to use a blow torch on it, hit it with a hammer a few times then the air gun finally got it loose!
