Do you have any up close pics of the whole assembly?

He mentioned that earlier. The rods which lift the headlights up have been physically shortened.

I really hope you guys get this thing going- I would buy your partial kit with the shortened rods.

I might be interested in your kit.

I purchased your gauge panel holder and believe your work to be top notch. I will follow this thread to see if there is any updates or pictures

Got a question.. The rods that lift the lights may be shorter and all but does the motor keep running as if the brackets were stock or wut? Im guessin that the motor is timed for the stockers which would mean its still trying to push the lights up after they have gone as high as they will go.. Is this the case?

Sry if that doesnt make much sense.

I don't believe the motor is timed, go look at yours while turning the little *** on the bottom to get them to go up manually. They rotate about 180 degrees. So all you do when you make the linkages shorter is shorten the height at which they push up. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, tha best way to understand it is to see it for yourself.

Yes the motor will be using it's full range of motion. Think of a short shifter. Your still shifting into gear, just less of a throw distance.

Same deal.

(I know via PMs with 1FastT2)

I'd like to see what I can come up with for control arms, I just need a blueprint or template...

somebody in one of the parts-threads in the lounge said, "if you want a headlight kit, make a headlight kit" and those look cool enough that I'm going to try to make one

1fast2,
would you be willing to shorten the rods, i someone were to send you their's and then you send them back with the shortned rods and the kit? for a fee of course? I can weld rather well but the dimensions would be a prob. I am in engineering so I have access to ALL of the Universities facilities if I wish.

Don't hate me because your topic is called "likes dislikes"

I personally think that the light conversion and the combination with the front bumper make the car look like its going to cry rather than the stock "smiling like its going to kick you ***" look. Just me though. I don't really like any exterior mods so don't take it personally.

Wouldn't shorting the pushrod just shift the throw position of the retractor actuation and not change its total distance?

All you need is a shorter arm on the motor gearbox which connects to the stock pushrod to make the open less. No timing, no servo switches, nothing but a change in mechanical geometry of the external system.

The arm might be stamped onto the motor's driveshaft so it might need to be cut while still on the shaft . . . this looks too easy . . maybe I should try doing it.

*edit* I just realized that you would need to shorten the pushrod as well as shorten the gearbox arm . . a shorter gearbox arm in the retracted position wouldn't pull the light all the way closed if the pushrod was the same length as before!

I may be able to make some from scratch, or at least be able to pick up used control arms from old motors (we have an abundancy of junkyards up here with FC3Ss) and modify them.

Pending a template or something of the sort.

I would be honoured to collaborate with 1FastT2 on this project.. Hence, the bump I made..
