Likelihood of finding a good condition factory CD player?

I've been thinking about putting my Pioneer 6400 steroe unit in my 10AE, but I'm hesitant because I like the black/orange/and red look of the factory stereo/equalizer. I know that you could get a cd player option with the FCs, I was just wondering what the odds of finding one of these in good condition was?

Yeah, CD's weren't quite so popular back then and it was a fairly emerging technology. I think they sounded kinda crappy and skipped a lot. Look for an older sony Moble ES unit on ebay (before all that Xplode crap, had the large dial on the left side and like 10 preset buttons along the bottom) They had faces where the buttons could be selected to be green or amber...almost a direct match to the FC interior.

yeah its better to get an aftermarket simply because of the technology and pricing...you could prolly find a stock cd player for almost the same price as a NEW aftermarket item that is cd-rw/cd-r/mp3 etc compatible. make a wise decision.

Try Mazda Recycling http://www.mazdarecycling.com/ . They frequently have listing of available RX7 radios/CD.
I had to return one a few years ago cuz the CD did not work and eventually found one in reasonably good shape in a junk yard. They are indeed hard to find.

Hmmm, the mazda one plays CD-R/CD-RW just fine, and mine NEVER skips at all.

My TII had a Type-4 Mazda deck, that's the CD/Cassette combo. My GTUs came with a sony xplode deck(fairly recent technology). They BOTH skip on each cars suspension. It's possible the sony deck is broken or something, I don't know it's history, but I was not impressed. If you can find yourself an OEM CD player, I say go for it. Too bad it was like an $800 option(according to my original sticker price for the TII) or there might be more out there to choose from. Good luck!

I have one of those Sony decks in my TII, and I love it. I set the color to amber, and it matches the S5 gauge color perfectly. Plus, it sounds great and can get pretty loud. The best part about it, is that I bought it used off of a fellow forum member for a steal.

Yep, you're 100% right It was $1000 option when I bought my 7 so, I decided against it.

Thanks for everybody who responded. My dad really wants me to keep the car factory everything... Hell, he's so fanatic he doesn't want me to drop in a KN filter.... weirdo. I'm surprised that the guy didn't cough up the extra 1k to put a CD player in while he was at it. The ticket was only $27k anyway...
