light switch harness
light switch harness
quick question do these thing burn up regularly. ive had to replace this thing twice in the last year.the first time it was just the harness but the second was switch and harness.same spot everytime.any remedies for this?
Which wires burn up? I'd see which ones where doing it and do a full check on the entire system effected to see what's going on. It sounds like you have something over drawing or shorting out.
Icemark might know for sure, but I know that system's got a lot of diodes in it- if one's blown down the line, it could be affecting your switch/ harness (basically you'd have voltage from the headlight relay/ power circuit backfeeding into the switch)...
FWIW, my switch and harness has 210K+ on it and is still doing OK (now to go find some wood to knock on, lol)...

Light switch harnesses and light switches should both be replaced if either one fails.
The connection tends to fail more often; if the parking light bulbs around the car have not been maintained. There should be some conductive grease used when the bulbs are replaced or any sign of corrosion is found in the parking light bulbs sockets.
As an additional step if you have failed to maintain the bulb sockets (which tends to happen more often in high humidity climates and cliamtes that have lots of winter snow) you can add an additional relay. There are directions for this in the 2nd gen archive, and I also (besides having rebuilt headlight switches) have a partially pre-wired relay kit available on my webstore, if you don't want to locate a heavy duty relay locally.
