Life of a TII???

just wondering, i bought a new turbo 2 engine off of ebay which had an estimated life of 40k - 66k , its JDM of course, just wondering how long those motors or turbo's actually last considering that they were takin good care of. thx

its a general rule to rebuild turbo motors every 100k miles but the highest ive seen still running well is 150k

wow, im not all that smart on rotaries but i was kinda expecting for a turbo 2 engine to have like 90k - 100k MAX, but thats cool, thx alot

ok i will tell you something:

JDM motors are as far from "new" as you can get in a rotary engine.
now get a quarter and call it in the air, if your lucky your face will come down, if not then expect to have to rebuild the "new" engine. sorry to give you the bad news but that is about what you have in your pocket.

most of us rebuilders recommend you rebuild the engine prior to installing it, not because we need the work but because it is sad to see good core motors destroyed or the disappointed look on owners faces when these JDM motors fail. they make for good rebuildable core motors most of the time due to their low mileage however.

my dd 1 owner ae has 146,000 miles

original turbo/ motor

never been out of the car

yes it has been babied.....



did you get comp #s on your purchase?

I did the same with my 87 Turbo, DD, hell i even used it to deliver pizzas in.

Got 153k miles outa it before it died.

im hoping it will last for more than 120k so i can save up more money to rebuild. but no i didnt get the comp #'s. I am going to baby the hell out of it but who knows how it has been treated before i got it.
