Lack of power (to the ground). . .

It seems my engine is running quite well on my 1991 NA FC. I have an 87' TII tranny in the car in place of the previously existing auto tranny. It's been on for quite a while, and I'm not sure if it was ever really "correct." There may be no problem with the transmission whatsoever. I don't know. Anyway, it seems that I'm just not transfering the power to the ground. It will burn out, but not very powerfully or for very long. There is also some wheel hop. Could the transmission be too loose, or not lined up correctly, or incorrectly installed in some other way that would be causing a loss of power in the drivetrain? The car pulls pretty well most of the time while in gear, but it seems that it's just lacking . . .something. I know I need a new clutch. Could that cause this much of a power loss? I'm just looking for some ideas, because although I've other problems that could be contributing, the tranny just seems a likely culprit. I also know for sure of a couple of broken solenoids, and hence some vacuum leaks, but could they contribute? The throttle does seem quite unresponsive, and I still do have occasional idle problems. I have an S-AFC, some lightweight flywheels, and a suspension to get put on, so hopefully these will help with idle, fuel supply, and wheel hop. Any input would be appreciated. Please direct any and all critisisms back to their point of origin, as they won't help and aren't needed. However, all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Derek

P.S. I do have several other modifications that are not mentioned, but none that I feel would affect this problem. (full exhaust-no cats, intake, 10mm plug wires, cross-drilled rotors, stainless steel brake and clutch lines, 18# flywheel, TII differential w/4:30 gears, etc.)

if it is the transmission liek you think it is, i would suggest changing the oil to lighter weight, i ran staright 30w for a few months in my car, it should be fine just a little louder. If it is the transmission that is slowing you down then you will be able to tell by doing this.
If the clutch doesn't slip then it isn't the clutch.
i would try to fix those vaccum leaks, your fifth and sixth ports might not be working properly, and that is why you are lacking that oomph.
Also check your air filter, if you still have the stock air box, you can check it real quickly by taking the cap off of that nipple on the back of the box, put you finger on the nipple and rev the engine, if your getting a vaccum then your air filter needs to be replaced.

hopefully this will help

I may try changing the tranny oil. I've plugged the two vacuum hoses that go to the broken solenoids until I get them fixed. Sometimes my ports open up and sometimes they don't. I oil them regularly to keep them from sticking as much as possible. I have a cone-style intake, and other than it being a bit dirty, my intake should be fine. I'll probably try changing the gear oils and see if it helps. Thanks for the info. Anything anyone would like to add would be apreciated.
