KYB AGX VS. Tokico Illumina
looking for a comparison on adjustable shocks
Use: mainly street driving
build quality? (welds, fit, ect)
drop in replacement, or modification required?
overall life of product?
reply if you have any opinions.

i just installed the KYB AGX on my 87 GXL. I have them all one setting under the stiffest. they ride very nicely. makes it actually feel like a sports car. Overall, i am very pleased. They fit right in. no mods needed

I have the KYB AGX for 4 years now and I have put over 100,000 kms on them and they still work great.
The adjustment ***** on the rear shocks have completely seized 2 years ago because I just "set it and forget it".
I don't park it in the winter either and that's probably why the ***** rusted in place.
Other than that they are very good shocks.
I have the fronts set at 2 of 4, and the rears at 4 of 8.
And, YES, they do fit on stock springs.

I've got KYB AGX wrapped in RB springs. I love the fact I can turn them down to the softest setting for say the trip to Vermont I took...but when it's autocross time, I can dial in what I need. I haven't had any issues with them, and it's been a few thousand miles now and they still feel the same. Never tried the other brands..

actually think they are both pretty good. i did OWN a pair of illuminas, never installed tho, but i have riden in cars with both and i like the ride of the illuminas more (however i dont know what settings they were own), but i have heard complaints of illuminas blowing more often than kyb's. either way, i have koni adjustables all the way around on my 94 mx-5 R and they are awesom on that.

ive been through 3 sets of AGX's and they are stiff but I dont know if they can handle lots of potholes. but KYB is fantastic with their warranty. replaced them everytime no questions asked

Funny. I just blew out one of my illumina shocks. Weird thing is, i did it while lowering the car onto the ground. something/somehow must of got caught and when the car was on the ground i heard a loud pop and a loss of compression. :\ oh well.
Anybody selling a spare illumina for the rear?
