knowlegable people please help.

finally got my sevy engine and 5 speed swap done. now:

the car wouldnt start unless you put your finger in the afm and push it open a bit.
if you didnt the engine would turn over till the cows came home and i would check the plugs and no fuel (i could hear the fuel pump running, so i dont need to hear that there a switch in the afm for the fuel pump blah blah blah)

that was a week ago. now it will start after turning over for about 10 seconds while pumping the gaspedal a few times and holding it just open. (yes i dont know why coz its not carbed, its injected) i seams to help.

anyway when is running it seams to be missing, only just tho, i dont think its a seal coz it has good power and drives well but is unstable idle under 1000rpm. i will do a comp test tomorrow.

could be an air leak i can hear a sucking sound by the tb (will investigate this). so will rip off all emmision equipment (might die of cancer but hey who cares) and look at injector seals coz i replaced injectors when putting the motor in(might have forgoten a seal, doh),

btw my o2 sensor isnt hooked up , will it make a diference? its a single wire so will need to heat up b4 it works so shouldnt make a difference while its cold. also where is the wire to plug it in. is it on the end of the small loom that incorporates the second primary injector plug? and is the 02 sesor wire black?

i also have kept the flapper in the exhaust manifold when i take the emission stuff of the solenoid that controls it will be chucked do i need to weld the flapper or just disconect the vacuum hose to the actuator?

what else would make it miss? its not real bad just sounds odd.

any help will be apreciated. all leads will be followed and results posted

Did you cap off the Auto tranny diapgram line? Its a line that usually connects on the bottom of the TB. Depends on the TB model though. Alot of people forget to cap that line off when they do the 5spd swap.

I've heard the 02 sensor d/c makes idle super rich. I've heard also that it isn't even used when not in closed loop. So I've got discrepent stories there. Wait for icemark or hailers to give a bottom line on that one.

What flapper are you talking about? There shouldn't be any flapper in the ehxuast manifold. There are diffusers that chuck in some clean 02 to help with the cats, emissions, anti backfiring stuff. You won't have anything to weld on the exhaust manifold. Just remove the emissions stuff and you should be good to go, remember to cap/block off everything though so you don't cause vac leaks!

When I did my 5spd swap, it took 3 months to get a steady idle below 1k. When I first started the car, it woudln't run below 3k rpm. I had a *MASSIVE* Vac leak that happened when i didn't completely clean off old gaskets when i put the new gaskets on the manifolds. After I got that fixed, I had about 50rpm idle. Barely kept the car running. At the same time I did the 5spd swap, I did the TB mod (something I strongly suggest AGAINST doing to anyone who wants to). A few months of meddling with the damn tb, and I've got a steady 900 rpm idle at opperating temp.

Below opperating temp/warm.... there is no idle. NONE.

i checked the compressions and the front rotor is sweet three even bounces aroung 80psi the rear has one 80 psi bounce and two 30-40 psi bounces. so i suspect a apex seal yet the car hauls ****,

question can i just take the rear housing off and change the seal (if everything is fine) without disturbing the front housing, i want to leave it alone that way cheaper build. its been rebuilt recently already.

thanks.
