I run the one for the 2nd generation DSM, the 95-99 turbo cars. The one for the 84-99 3000GT VR4 is the same with a longer lead.

^^^ couldnt agree more

i have taken several steps to make temps as low as needed:
throttle body coolant line delete
larger intercooler
larger turbo
larger inlet on the bumper
heat shields/wraps
etc.

What happens to the timing when you cancel the knock sensor on the stock t2 ecu ? Is it possible to tune it with a safc ? Will i be able to beat the car up even tho the check engine is ON ?

Someone who has done extensive logging on an Rtek may have more insight on the knock control logic of the s4 T2. The s5 has a completely different knock control system than the s4.

Also, just to illustrate the knocking zone a little better:

The orange area is the knocking zone but on a rotary engine it also happens to correspond with the main "squish area." A squish area is a part of the combustion chamber that has a very concentrated air/fuel mixture due to the engine geometry. Piston engines also have squish areas. Squish areas aren't "bad" things.

Here is the squish zone in a Toyota 1ZZ engine (Corolla/MRS engine):

Here they are in a Subaru 2.5 turbo boxer engine:

Here are the squish zones in a Toyota 2JZ engine, when looking at the head:
