knock sensor?

i have a 6 port block, and everything else is tII from the turbo to the ecu. i was told i needed to tap a hole for the knock sensor if i was using the tII ecu. then i called mazdatrix and asked them and they said i dont need to use the knock sensor, and that it wont hurt performance at all. is this true?

They're right, you don't need it. Early knock-sensing system were only useful below ~4000rpm anyway, and were mainly to prevent knocking caused by low-rpm lugging. If you drive the car properly the system would most likely never operate anyway.
