i have a 88 turboii and i wanna mod it with out changin the turbo or anything that big. i was told that a good knock finder would be a great thing to get first because i could then build on my motor with out worrying about blowing anything? im kinda new to turbo 7's. but ive had sum NA's. so i could use some advice. i was told that if i got a good knock sensor i could up the boost from 6.5 to 12 and not worry about premature detonation. any advice is very welcome. any good sensors you guys suggest? thanks - whyteout

 

The T2s have a knock sensor stock. The ECU reads it and retards the timing, it's debatable as to the real usefulnessof this as by the time it "hears" a knock you've probably lost an apex seal.

No, upgrading it would probably be a waste of money. What you need to is fuel managemant and a wideband O2 sensor to measure the AFR correctly. Please do a search and check the archives, you'll find more info then you probably thought existed.
