Lightbulb this kinda of a weird ? i need opinion

ok i have a 90 N/A but needs a new engine and trans. I just got a estimate from a local guy that will put a stage 3 engine and new hks 5 speed tranny for 3400$ but it is an automatic so 5 speed is expensive swap. <i think> anyways i recently got a new 88 fc im willing to give him if he installs the engine and trans like a trade the 88 is in good also good *** condition. it is a 5 speed with only 90k miles on the original engine and has brand new paint on it, with new kumo tires. Do yall think that is a good trade??? also the 3400$ includes it installed!

Honestly... I'd keep both, and buy a turbo swap w/tranny and differential for the 90. But that's me. And yeah, $3400 is good for an 88 FC, I paid 2k for mine. I am, however, doubting this local guy because... well... I didn't know HKS made transmissions.

Yeah, what exactly is involved in a stage 3 engine? I assume that a lot is done to it, but stage 3 differs between places.
Also, I pretty sure I heard of HKS trannys a while back, but I see no mention of it on their site, so I could be mistaken.

Well... I guess it checks out so far.
I apologize, I was wrong. I didn't know HKS made transmissions.

Here's my advice. Make sure they know what they're doing first, and make sure that you get to keep the 88 until the 90 is finished.

I agree. I put a new engine in my last car, and the guys doing it weren't really "performance car" guys, they mostly worked on everyday cars. So when I had them install my engine etc, I ended up with a lot of mix-and-match, and didn't get near the potential out of the engine or the money spent that I should have.

Sounds good to me. What is this Stage3 engine rated for, HP wise?
What did you pay for the 88?

The 5" tach thing is a joke poking fun at Initial D. Just ignore 'em. I'd try to get dyno sheets of that 325hp stuff before buying in.
