Killed Something (ECU Perhaps)?

Could a wrench dropped from the power terminal on the alt to the front strut bar causing a momentary short fry the ECU? Yes I know I was stupid to attempt any work without disconnecting the battery first.

After this happened my car turns over but will not start. I have not checked spark yet, and I'm not 100% that it's getting fuel. I will check both of those out tomorrow. I also know that I didn't blow any fuses.

What I do know is that when I checked for error codes, the 2 LEDs turned on like they were supposed to (for the two seconds as soon as you turn on the ignition) but they won't turn off? They just stay lit?

I have a N326 ECU (as opposed to the N327 ECU that is in my car) that I can swap to test, will this work? What is the difference between the two?

Anything else I should look for?

Thanks.

It could fry your ECU, but the fuses should blow first. Check to see if you've got fuel and spark, go over your fuses with a test light to be sure they're not blown, then try swapping ECU's if you find nothing with the first few things.

Do things in simplest order first. And next time, be a little more careful :P

Well, the fuses are all still good. The only spark I get is once right as you turn on the ignition. There is no fuel at all, but I do have fuel pressure. I swapped ECU's, but same result. Is the N326 ECU not complatible with my car? Possibly the second ECU is also faulty, since I don't know if it came out of a running car or not. I still have those strange error code lights. Ahh, why this weekend, there is a RallyX tomorrow.

Alright, a bump and an update:

Rechecked the fuses again. They are all good. I have no spark and no fuel. Neither of the ECU's I have make any difference when I plug them in. CAS is plugged in. Battery Terminals are clean. It turns over as fast as it ever did. I do believe I have a drain on the battery, which I'm trying to lock down. However I'm sure the drain was there before the starting problem. Still have fuel pressure as far as I know. Could it be the coils? I have no spark on any of them, but they have discharged and created spark when the ignition is first turned on so I think they are working? (I found out the painful way ) Could anyone give me some suggestions on what to look for next?

The coils should only be creating spark when the key is switched to START and/or the motor is running. Turning the key to ON should not make your coils fire... check for voltage at both coils when the key is switched to ON. You're sure you're not getting fuel? You plugs are bone dry after cranking? The only thing i can think of the the solenoid resistor is located on the pass. strut tower.. you may have hurt it
