Kickdown problem (yeah yeah, it's an auto)

Ok, my exhaust (stock) was a POS with a hole in it so I convinced my dad to buy me a new one (of course, he got another stock one). My problem is that now with the RIGHT amount of back pressure, my kickdown is all screwed up, and it almost feels like it's dropping down two gears instead of just one. has ANYONE got any idea of what's wrong with it?

I have an auto with kickdown problems too. Also, my overdrive went out for a long time. I finally decided one day to seach through the Haynes manual to find out where the Auto-trans contorl unit was. I found that and the relay for it on some random page because they aren't actually covered in the book, they're just part of a diagram.
Anyways, I jiggled the wires for the ACU and it started working a little better. My overdrive came back on and it started kicking down more normal. I think either the wires must be really bad on mine, or I need a new unit.
BTW, the unit is located on the passenger side, burried in the right side under the dash behind the plastic panel. I really can't explain the location properly.
