The tank last I check on my S4 in the FSM was about 16.9 from what I remember.

I have no proof yet or any actual numbers but since Ive replaced all gaskets, new light flywheel and clutch, deleted all emissions and done throttle body mod it seems like im seeing my needle drop much slower. ill try to get an actual number soon. Id be willing to bet my 87' T2 is getting at least 325 per tank if not a bit more

I can go about 275 driving around town MAX. On the highway it is exponentially better. But that only happens when I go to Deals Gap.

Man, screw you guys getting your high mpg ratings!! I don't need that money anyways! I drive a stock '88 vert manual NA on the stock rims and tire size, and I do about 80% of my mileage on the highways (averaging at least 65 mph, but usually 75+) here in GA, but even still I manage to only attain 16.8 mpg. I would never run a tank completely empty, but when I fill 'er up, it's almost always between 13 and 13.5 gallons, so I usually get about 225 miles to the tank. I think I could get much better because this thing idles at 13-1600 rpm 3/4 of the time, and the exhaust smells really rich most of the time. I look at it like this: If I wanted good mpg, I'd drive my Mazda3, but the RX7 yields a much higher fun-level-per-mile-traveled figure.

^dude fix your idle and give your car a tune up...I drive a 90 stock vert and get better than that spirited driving in the city.

Yeah, yeah, it's just that I'm broke right now with taxes looming in my face. Did you get your FD recently from the guy who sells them right next to the train tracks on Rockbridge Rd? He had one for sale within the last 6 months I think, but usually he sticks to FCs.

the most i ever got out of my 86 GXL was about 250 miles. It was about 16.6 MPG. 70% highway. I get around 12 MPG in the city. I need a new o2 sensor I'm sure. My L and T plugs were reversed at the time too. I had only had the car a couple months and never checked them.

I have...

...TB secondaries removed
...cone filter with heat sheild
...MazdaSpeed canisters with 2.5" Y pipe to cats
...new plugs
...new wires
...new fuel filter
...new fuel line (filter to engine)
...regrounded all grounds
...new 795 cca battery
...100 useless pounds removed including AC/belts/pulleys

wtf, theres something seriously wrong here. i have yet to actually witness an FC get more than 300 a tank. me, i have a slightly modified engine, 3 1/2" exhaust, straight pipe, solid idle, 17" rims, 215/45/zr17 tires, and some other random crap. then again, i have a FULL system, optima and all. hm, i get on average about 280 pushing 300 on a good week. how the hell do you get 400 mpt?

peace

top and windows up, no A/C...good oil, part throttle acceleration, shifting before 3800rpms, don't go over 80mph.

basically have no fun driving and use 87oct. (which I always use in the FC)

Im getting close to 600km (400mile) per tank.. but my tank is 70L(18.4gal), its a huge japanese tank. 22 mpg.. not too bad for a 1991 Turbo , and my timing is out pretty badly..

I'm sooo happy, with a GTUs, I'm finally getting 21 mpg! (20.9 to be exact)

That means on a full tank I'd be getting 386.65 miles?

I'm only managed to use 17.9 gallons before the fuel pump couldn't pump anymore, so technically, I could only go 374.11 miles before stalling out.

i still dont see how its freaking possible. btw, windows up and no a/c doesnt matter, i drive that like all the time, cause i dont even HAVE anything for a/c. i want to see your tripmeter next time you fuel up. i SERIOUSLY doubt people are getting 400 mpt.
i throw down the bullshit card.

peace

I would throw the bs card, but I can't find the patience to drive like a granny in my freakin' convertible sports car! That defeats the point! I did go ahead and replace all the lube fluids (motor oil, trans fluid, diff fluid) with Royal Purple. I am not sure it made much of a difference, though the trans and diff fluids were absolutely the most disgusting things I have ever seen come out of a car. I don't think either had been changed since the day she rolled off the assembly line in 1987/88!

actually, now that prochembrotcm brings up fluids, i did find that my trans only had like 1/2 a quart in it, that might be a problem on the milage, due to the trans having to work SOOOO much harder. ok, i can see low 300's, but not 400, im still saying bull.

Standalone tune will give you about 28 mpg. You can do that math after that. FYI, S5 tanks are 18.5 gallons.
