Keep blowing EGI fuse
Anyone know how to solve this problem? I put new fuses yet when I crank the car it blows the fuse before it wants to start. I have been down for 3 days so if anyone has any clues at all please post. This **** has been bugging me and I really need to fix this problem. I miss driving my 7.
Bad ECU or shorted wire from the fuse to the ECU.
You can check for a shorted wire by unplugging the ECU, pulling the EGI fuse out, and putting your digital Multi-meter on the wire.
+ lead of the Digital Multi meter on 12v+ at the battery, and - lead of the DMM on the wire. Set the meter for voltage test.
You should not see any voltage on the wire. If you do see any voltage you have the wire shorted or pinched somewhere.

I had the same problem with mine. Turns out I had a bad ground in my alarm system?!? Kept activating a "kill switch" that would pop the fuse. It would do it occassionally, then it did it everytime I started/attempted to start the car. I eventually just had it towed to a shop, where it trouble shooted (shot?). After finding the problem I just had the whole system removed. It was a python system that was in the car when I got it.

Thanks alot I really appreciate all the help. It means the world to me. Now to just find the short and fix it or replace the ecu. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated as well. How many other people have had this problem and how did you fix it?
