K/N Intake & Filter Reviews

I was wondering if you guys can tell me some of your experiences with k/n. I am in the process of deciding whether I want to purchase them or not. List the model or type that you have and what you know or heard about them. Thanks fellahs.

I have to agree here. The intake is not as much of a restriction as you think it is. The stock S5 intake can be modified in 10 minutes to flow much better.

I bought the K&N filter for the stock airbox. Worth the money.

I have a k&n drop in filter. Didnt notice any difference. But its easy, and fast to clean at every oil change. So thats cool.

There is an air silencer on the filter box cover that is easily removed. It is held on by plastic rivets and you can drill them out and voila! you just eliminated a 180* turn in your air stream.

I've heard from multiple sources too that the stock airbox flows good, and for a more stockish car, its better to drop in a high flowing filter, than it is to just have a cone filter in the engine bay. Reason being the stock intake uses cool air, and a cone filter uses hotter engine bay air. However, I've yet to see dyno tests.
