its up to you... but i would never pay $100 for for a filter and adapter.

ahhh you have n/a?

you can make a full cold air intake for $100 or less.... prolly alot less.

search... hell ill search for you. give me 1 min.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=cai

there is one of the countless threads... that one has pics. ill find more.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=cai

thatone is a write up of how to do it. both of those are for a CAI....

if you want a "short ram" then just do the same without cutting. use a shorter pipe. 3" filters and adapters are everywhere on ebay... hell higgi sells one too.

you talk about no wanting to get screwed... well paying 100 for just a filter and adapter from k&n IS getting screwed with no lube.

Thanx man for all the help just need my vert to be a little faster
Also is there any way of putting a more modern mass air flow sensor where you can easily install a filter without the adapter you need.

Check out the one im thinking of

I wouldn't expect 20 something hp out of any intake but you should notice some gains ever bit counts. I have the K&N on my turbo II and i love it.

Ya i know i think those would make it much easier to upgrade the intake rather than using the stock MAF that has a square style inlet and round outlet i dont know y mazda did this but seems stupid to me as far as aftermarket goes

I have that intake on my 87 gxl.Dont listen to these people saying to make your own intake because you want something thats smog legal and thats not going to get you harrased by a cop if he pulls you over.

Also you will gain about 5- 10 hp...

Just slapping a stock filter in the engine bay is WORSE. Do yourself a favor and build your own intake with either a cold air box around the filter, or a true CAI.

How would a CAI affect smog at all? How would you get harassed by a cop unless he tells you to pop the hood and he takes a look around?
