when i first started driving i did the same... i took a corner that was posed to be 40 at 100 or so... (KPH)

spun,... almost 270 to 300 degress... the front hit the curb after i locked the brakes to scrub as much speed as possible. blew both front tires and bent the rims... knocked the engine off the mount.... and bent one tie rod i think... and messed the alignment of the car so bad it took the dealership's best technician 3/4 of a day to get it aligned properly.

cost 800 canadian at honda dealership (I had a 94 accord back then)

all values in S.I. units and canadian dollars

Damn... that sucks. At least she's pretty far from a total. Do you have collision insurance? Or are you going to have to pay out of pocket? How fast were you going, just out of curiousity?

here is what is damaged:

left front control arm

Replace the parts yourself & pay someone to do an alignment.. This way it will only cost you max=500.. as long as there is no body damage..

If there is go buy a new fender at a junkyard & have it painted...

The dealership parts are way to expensive, check just part shops to reference..

Go rent one at your local auto parts store.. They usually will let you use them for free. with a deposit..

You don't need'em. I used bailing wire. Just wrapped it between several sets of the coils, and used a screwdriver to wind up the wire to make it tight. Worked fine, cost me $0.

Also, if you are gonna replace parts.. think about upgrades...

Maybe some new struts/springs?? New swaybar??

This might be a good time to do this stuff..

not only is that dangerous... but you will never work on my car even if you work for free....lol

get a free compressor at autozone or murrays with a locking safety so you dont loose fingers or arms or blow a hold thru your moms windows or garage door.

Thrasher (Zack)- kind of an appropriate name now... j/k

I have a 67K mile powersteering rack with good boots from an '87 GXL. $50 plus shipping

Used lower control arms can be ordered from here and any other part you may need:
http://www.mazdarecycling.com/ and yes you can haggle a little

You can get coil spring compressors new from Grand Auto/Kragen/Schucks and I believe that they rent them as well. Bailing wire..... classic. That spring pops out of there and you won't have a head that has a working brain inside.....

Fix it yourself and then get it aligned at a shop.

If you want the rack let me know gnx7@hotmail.com

HOLY CRAP!
next you'll be saying that it's cool to wear a tie and work on the fan belt with the motor running .....and jack stands are for wusses.....and it's no problem to jack the car up on a steep hill and why not take that test drive with only one lug nut on each wheel....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not give out dangerous advice! It may have worked for you but how would you feel if the guy you advised killed himself? And yes, the kinetic energy in a compressed spring CAN do that.

I remember doing donuts with my first car ( 1988 N/A ) in a parking lot and hitting a lamp post. My rear panel was destroyed so I ripped it off for some stylish weight reduction man.

The engine cradle is the crossmember that spans between the frame rails that the engine mounts attach to, the lower A-arms, steering rack, sway bar etc. This can be purchased used as well. I paid $60 for mine from the link I gave you. Buy a bunch of parts and they will cut you some form of deal.

To replace the engine cradle is a lot of work.

It's the crossmember... it's held to the unibody frame rails with 4 big bolts... and it supports the motor, the motormounts bolt to it IIRC. You could get all those parts used in a salvage yard for $100 or so.
