Just stripped my entire interior, ready for cage

ha, no cage. I just bought another one. An 87 SE with 64K original miles, but body pretty beat. The carpet was trashed from sittin so long so I went crazy and took all the carpet, panels, speakers, headliner, visors, and everything else but the dash out, anything I didnt need I pitched. Plans for it are a RB header and presilencer along with some intake. After that who knows, my friends get a kick out of it that I tore the **** out of an alright car. It was only $400 though and is a project that I dont plan on putting over $1500 into. I just wonder what I should do after exhaust and intake, I still want her to be able to drive around campus everyday if needed. Any suggestions besides a small nitrous shot? And NO, not NOS-I would get venom or something just to not be made fun of.

dont worry man. i did the same. and it's my daily driver.

my carpet smelled almost like cat ****. so i took it out. having a stripped car isnt pretty. but hey, form over function. after i'm done with this chassis i'll just get a vert and drive that everyday.. maybe add intake exhaust and that's it.

when i owned my 83 i gutted the whole car including dash, then put almost new interior in!! when i was done with it i sold it!! it also had a backseat in it that i replaced with the bins out of a 84

BTW that 84 was in the junkyard with nearly new interior , bad body thought!! bought it fer like $100 just fer the inside!!

I think stripped out interiors look more racey. Or just really poor and shitty. Depends on the look I suppose. Still, if you DO get a cage in there, then it would probably look hot. It could be the "All out on saving weight" look. What to do to it? ****. Just do the nitrious!

by the way... people may find "NOS" funny, but it's certainly NOT funny when you really have the bottle - and fully functional.. that's actually damn cool, and really intimidating... NOS is a great product. Holley knows what is up. If not NOS, then get Nitrious Express. NOS is still one of the best on the market even though it was made notorious by f&f.

Thats for all the POSOTIVE input. No interior will be goin back in this car though, I'm hesitant about taking most of the dash out, I dont know how much more weight it would save, but it would look more racey.

The dash is pretty heavy because it has a metal sub-frame. A friend of mine took out the whole dash, and zip-tied his instrument cluster to the steering column. Actually, his car would be similar to your build plans. Here is what he has: 86 Sport, totally gutted interior except for two seats and instrument cluster, stock engine with 6-ports removed (because they were hopelessly jammed shut), electric fan, RP catback exhaust, Wolf3DV3 EMS (ie AFM and stock EMS removed), K&N cone filter on a custom straight pipe intake with intake air deflector. As for performance, he is able to edge out a TII with basic mods (FCD, intake, catback).

i've always had this thought in my head.. strip the interior.. repaint the interior.. than install a cage. all this on my street car/daily driven car. i dont mind it. ive' never had A/c, i just recently took out P/S, which is much better i might add. i have yet to get a header system. but soon. ALL in all, i've removed close to 120 lbs. at LEASE.. i've removed alot of stuff from my car, not only that, but i've personally lost 40 lbs in the past year, which was great for getting chicks! i wonder how a chick would think about getting in to a full roll caged street car with smelly exhaust and a hot/sticky interior. would she like it? Doubt it... but hell, its OUR cars.

Hmm... Somehow I feel that sacrificing carpet for a tenth of a second in the quarter isn't worth it..

HERE'S WHAT IV'E DONE SO FAR

87 SE with manual steering rack. Heres what's done. Stripped interior except for dash removed-(still thinking about it), all A/C crap, Sub zero cold start, and I want to throw the cage in it. I plan on getting the mazdatrix true dual exhaust but want to see if I can get the package without the $700 dollar mufflers. Ill rig some kind of cone filter, remove all my air pump and emissions **** and hope to match a TII. If not the nitrous will bolt nicely in the back.
