Just pick up a 88 turbo

Hey guys i just picked up a 88 turbo that was running when parked about 8 months ago

I changed the fluids and put a little oil in each rotor and turned them over by hand... turned pretty easy but there is some compression...

Charged the battery and turned it over.... not even a cough.

Turned it over 5-6 times over an hour or so and the compression sounded better but still no hint of it starting up.

The fuel pump is running and there is fuel at the rail etc.

Ideas?

Take your plugs off and turn the motor over. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE COMPRESSION!. The only thing you need to start an engine is: Fuel, Ignition, Compression, and timing. Make sure that all your sensors are plugged in. Does this car have emissions? What am I looking at exactly?

okay with the AFM unplugged it has spark and ALMOST starts or starts for a second then dies.

Can't get it to run for more than a few seconds...

Tried removing plugs and clearing rotors of fuel by pulling EFI fuse, it starts and dies then you can't get it to start again...

Any suggestions?

Plug the AFM back in! The car will start and run for 2 seconds then die without the AFM signal. Just make sure it didn't flood again.

Got it running for about 5 min

killed it and it wouldn't start back up no matter what I tried. This is what the previous owner was telling me, that it wouldn't restart once hot

Is this leaky injectors?

Drove it and it runs pretty good pretty quick for it's day i bet.

But it's really hard to start once it's warm. Not easy to start cold either.

Once it's started it runs pretty good. Idles a little low/rough once hot.

any input?

or

check the basic stuff. i guess. might as well get a compression test to see what the condition the engine is in.
