Just had emission test on my new 88 Vert.: Passed with some amazing results!

Tell me if you think this is strange for an RX-7 to pass with these kind of numbers.
HC (ppm) limit/ results-for cruise:
160/ 11
for idle
220/12
CO % limit/ results- for cruise:
1.1/.05
for idle
1.2/0
I was expecting to pass, but not by that much! All I did was change plugs and air filter since I bought it Friday. I guess it must be in OK shape, huh?

No worries here either. Properly tuned, they are fine.

Wow, those are some good numbers. Me on the other hand, i'm totally screwed for smog next year. Lol i got a streetport with a blown coolant seal, plus a dirty intake plus i just put on a racingbeat true dual exhaust, header back......lol

^^

Will a blown coolant seal automatically blow the SMOG test? I'm only asking because I did pass SMOG easily I noticed very small amounts of coolant coming out of the seam between the bellhousing and the engine. Should I be concerned?

Is it (gasp!) time for a rebuild or is it just a seal?

lucky dude. i failed three times before i passed and the only way i could pass is if i drove my car to get about 1/4 tank of gas then i poured in like 1/2 to one gallon of denatured alchol into the tank and thats how i passed. after i did that i had like the same results.
