just got rx-7 new to rotary what can i do?

ok i just got an 89 rx-7 from a pal of mine for 800 runs great and just needs paint. it has a 13b injection rotary engine in it 5 lug rims. i want to no what little things i can buy for this car to make it faster like cheap things air intake and stuff like that nothing to fancy like turbos dont have the money yet. any ideas or can any one help me out? also the only thing wrong with the engine is the cap for the radiator or thermostat when it runs for ill say 10-15 minutes the fluid starts to bubble out of the cap located on the thermostat?? idk what it is this causes the car to over heat does any one no how to fix that? thanks guys looking forward to hearing back from peoplee

look at the bottom of the cap and see if the rubber seal is still there. i had mine try to sneak away when changing radiator hoses last week.

There's not too many little (cheap) things that you can do to a non-turbo. Some will help though. Remove the stock air filter box and air filter. Put a cone filter on the AFM and construct a heat dam around it to seal out as much engine bay heat as you can. Aluminum flashing, sound dampening material and aluminum tape work wonders for this and they aren't expensive.

After that, make sure you've got good plugs and plug wires. Again not too expensive for these.

Now you start in with the more expensive stuff. Catback exhaust system and replacement for the stock mufflers. Free up exhaust flow through and add some HP. Will also be louder than stock.

Street porting will also add some HP but it ain't that cheap either.

first thing you probally wanna do is a full tune up and put a new rad cap on it and make sure it doesnt overheat if it does say goodbye to the motor....and if i were you i would buy a rad cap from mazda cause the aftermarket ones dont seal right and the coolent will overflow into the tank
