Just Got My First FC
HI, I just got my FC on Sunday
. Its a 87 TII model and is a very nice car
. But the cost of it left me with little money and a need for upgrades. So I was wondering what the best upgrades would be for me in trying to build my drift car
. Anything that can be done to the car with the least amount of money possible I would highly appreciate you to share with me. Also if you have any tips for me (this is my first rotary car) I would highly appreciate them.
thanks in advance

take care of it. and congrats on getting your first rotary. also good choice with the FC and a TII none the less. good call friend. i dont really have any suggestions for mods as i am looking for some myself but if you take care of the car it will take care of you

-Tuneup (and/or anything else to get it running damn near perfect before you mod it)
-Go to local meets (not sure if there are alot of rotorheads in Mich.), make friends, and learn as much as you can from those who have been around for a while

fix all the little stuff first.
*search on resoldering the joints in the cpu and the warning light cluster.
change fluids.. so you know where you are at.
once you get the simple stuff done then start lookin to upgrade/mod.
cone filter intake, TID mod, full 3" exhaust with DP, fuel cut defenser, porting wastegate, and some sort of boost control need to be done all in one step from what iv learned reading on here.
Pretty much all of of what I listed needs the other parts to see gains and be safe about it.
im new to this too, i also just got a 87 TII and it seems I need to save up before I do any real modding.
Do some searches and you will find everything you need to know.

after you get it running perfect, you should look at suspension. if it is wearing out, that would be a good first thing to replace, especially for a drift car. otherwise, exhaust would probably be the best first mod - downpipe, midpipe, and catback. along with that, you'll probably also want an FCD, just to be safe. oh, and probably the very first thing would be an aftermarket boost gauge. once you get that, then you'll have more of an idea of what you want to do.
just read the forums a lot, and you'll learn quickly.
BTW, how about some pics?

you're still putting more stress on the motor when driving than if you were by letting it just sit. a turbo timer just makes it easier to let the car sit since you can forget about it and not worry if you forgot to turn it off 3 hours ago. it's a safety measure that really isn't all that expensive.
I'd much rather spend a hundred dollars on a Walbro fuel pump, than an unessential turbo timer.
Blown engines are considerably more expensive than coked turbos. Also, water-cooled turbochargers hardly need to be "idled-down". Just don't get into boost before you stop the car. The only time you really need to cool the car down before stopping is after driving on the highway, or going up a steep hill.
