Just got my first 7 and have questions...
1. Is there a way to tell the difference between an a-spec and a j-spec s4 engine? I was told it is a j-spec but i have no idea.
2. Does anyone know of a good shop in Houston, Tx that would work on my car? I tried MazMax but Brian says they don't want to mess with it because of all the mods done to it. (removed and capped all egr, removed power steering, a/c, etc.) I would do the work myself but i think it needs a rebuild and i dont have the time to do it i work 12 hours a day and six days a week.
3. I have already replaced alternator, battery, spark plugs and wires, and starter. I have done the fuel cut switch so i can actually start the thing. When ever i put throttle load on it i get really bad misfires. I suspect it is either horrible compression (which is why the car doesn't miss in neutral when revved, but when in gear), or maybe fuel injectors putting in too much fuel and flooding the engine under load. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

One way to tell if it's a jspec is by looking were the brake booster line connects to the manifold, if it uses a banjo bolt on the last runner than it is j-spec. This is for a turbo, na might be the same.
