yeah, if you're new to the whole FC thing, especially Turbo, there are a bunch of things to learn. Hopefully you've still got good compression (most important thing when looking for a rotary, IMO). To find out how to test it you can either search, or just bring it to Mazda and they'll do it for you. Good luck and let us know how things are going.

Definately start with the FAQ's at the top of this forum.

I have a mirror site copy of the Mazda FSM (factory service manuals) at the link in my sig below.

As with any car you are new to, take it easy as you get used to the handling.
Few cars have a 50/50 front to rear weight balance and DTSS like an RX-7.
For example if you try a quick lane change at 65 without practicing first at lower speeds, the rear steer will be a big surprise.

The RX-7 sound dictionary:
Thunk (when starting out) - Front diff mount.
Tink (when starting out) - u-joints
Clunk or groan (with suspension movement) - old grommets.
Zoom zoom (short cycle) - vac leak
Zoom zoom (long cycle) - TPS or BAC or grounds
Crunch - high rev shift to 2nd
Beeeeeeee - over rev or low coolant or low oil.
RrRrRrRrR - starter gear sound (normal)
rrrrrrrrrrrr - starter gear sound (flooded) (no compression surges)
RrRrRrrrRrrrR - starter gear sound (bad apex seal) (uneven compression surges)

Ahahahaha, I love your little sound dictionary. That's classic.

Congrats on the TII. Treat it well and you'll be a happy man. I can't wait to get some boost of my own.

You can say that again...I, too, am a new FC owner (almost 2 months) and all I can say is this car is definitely a tuner's nightmare/dream.

If you like working on cars and find it relaxing and rewarding, the FC is a great car. If you want reliability with very little problems, then you just made a bad choice

Good luck and utilize the knowledge on this board. I am and it's making my life with my FC a whole lot easier.

thats no joke, i was comming back from miami and that buzzer went off. i knew it was a faulty sensor. It would come on and go off. but this time that sucker stayed on for 3 hours straight. I got home and i figured out what wires to pull and yanked that ****** out of there. all i could hear for 2 days was that damn buzzer.

Welcome to the wonderfull world of rotarys. You will laugh, you will cry and you will have to ride the bus every once in a while. You will love it. I've drivin alot of cars (use to do detailing) and out of all of them i loved the fc most of all. Theres just something about hearing that motor and feeling the car grip the road around a corner. Its like total eutophia

thanks for all the feedback guys, greatly appriciated. i paid $2000 for her. i think i got a pretty good deal. the only thing wrong w/ it is that the shifter doesn't center so its hard to know what gear im in. I was told that is like a balance spring or something. anyone know how i can fix it? also i have a greddy blow off valve i wanted to put on, but it seems like i need a flange, where can i find that?

Make sure to replace the bushings, I think that should take care of it.

That's a sweet deal too, that's what I paid for my 87 GXL.
