I finished gutting my cats. today on my 87 SE. The car is an auto. but that will get fixed later. Anywho, I have to replace the mufflers, so the car is running a complete exhaust with no mufflers at this time, making it pretty loud. I took the car down off the jacks, checked the fluids (oil and filter just changed) and checked my tire pressure. I just got the car, and knowing it needs some maintainance, new set of tires, and the mufflers replaced, I haven't bothered to get it PA inspected, plated, or get insurance.
So, the 'rents are out of town, and no one is around. I gank the DEALER plate off our Caddy SLS and toss it on the rex. Fire her up, and leave the neighborhood as quietly as I can. (that was impossible) I take her down the main street getting into her, no 3800 hesitation, runs right up to about 6500-redline.
At this time I figure I better get home, so I go right back home, let her idle for a few, and put her back in the garage back on jacks, before anyone knows the better.
