Just gonna save for a rebuild

My car has approximatly 150 maybe 160 thousand miles on the motor. I was going to do a compression check but screw it. It doesnt start so easy when its warm. When its cold it doesnt want to run. Its idle is a bit erratic. I thought it was injectors (wishful thinking) but after careful consideration (and the quest for more power) I feel a rebuild and a port job should be carried out before damage is done.
I want to rebuild and port the motor myself. I've been studying these motors for some time now and I think its time I went deeper into one. I'm a wiz with a dremel tool so the porting part I dont feel I should have a problem with. Can anyone give me a quick run down on what I should buy and the best place to get it. That I know of I will need : gasket kit, apex seals, main seals, am I missing anything? I know I'll probably be looking at about 1200 for all the stuff I need. Or should it be more or less? I really wanna do this so any experience from those who have went through this is greatly appreciated. Also are there any mistakes first time builders usually make that I should look out for? Thanks.

Yes it definatly is a lot of miles for a turbo model. It was well taken care of by almost all of its previous owners. The guy I bought it from didnt know jack didly bout the car though. Luckily he barely drove it. I've dumped tons of money into its maintenence. And I'm glad its lasted this long. Thats why I'm going to get ready for a rebuild. I dont want to wait till the rear rotor locks up or I completely lose an apex seal.

It's hard to say what all you'll need until you tear it apart. With that many miles thought I would be thinking all new seals and springs, gasket kit, all 4 internal bearings, and since your in there water and oil pump might not hurt, sure it's an extra couple hundred but how long do you want it to run this time before you have to do more work on it??

I also ended up milling my rotors for 3mm seals since they were out of tolerance for 2mm and bought new rotor housings again cuz I want my engine to go another 100k+ before I have to do any of this again.

Unfortunately there's not a lot of places to get rotary parts and they all pretty much cost the same. I am very happy with the quality and service I got from revolution rotary in Idaho, check out there website they also have good prices on used parts w/90 day warranty, just picked up an A/C compressor for $50

Try to budget extra for unexpected cost though as you'll never really know what you need until you get in there......And the FSM is mandatory for this they give you all the specs to check in order to find out what you need to replace that may still look good to the oh-so-unprecise-eyeball.
