This may be a bit late, but it's useful info nonetheless. There is a thread in the buy/sell section strictly for vin checks. Usually someone will pay the whatever to get unlimited checks, and then people paypal a buck or two as donation. I should say CONSIDERATE people paypal some, not all. Anyways, it's worth a look if you haven't yet. It's always nice to know it wasn't underwater in Louisiana
