just a few diff. questions
first off... is the rear suspension independant? (if equal weight is on both wheels, will they both leave rubber on the ground?)
is there a visual difference between LSD units and open diff.? I can't just go out and jack the tires up and spin the wheel to check. I've got messed up brakes so I can't get the wheels spinning, only move them a bit.

My 86 GXL had a tag around the filler bolt (or was it the drain bolt?) that said to only use a LSG lube in there. The tag was really gunked up, of course, but it was easy to clean and read.
If it's there, good bet it's an LSD. If not, you'll have to figure it out on your own.

If you had a LSD, that was engaging perfect, and the weight of the car was perfectly distributed over both sides and tires (including composition, air pressure, temperature, radius, and diameter) were the same then yes in theory you should be able to leave two perfectly equal tire burn outs.
