Just a curious question

So what does the boost sensor do?
(other than red boost!)
As in, what does it activate, shutoff that sort of thing?
Inectors, timing, A/F ratios.........

To be simplistic, I would assume that the Pressure Sensor reads the boost, converts to a signal, supplies the boost gauge and ecu with the reading, then the ecu will change fuel/ignition curves accordingly.

And kind of on the same lines.....
If the fuel cut can do so much damage to the motor, why did Mazda limit boost that way? Why not cut the ignition like a rev limiter?
