Just bought my first 7...
1988 RX-7 NA, 45k original miles, first own had bought car for daughter, who later the following year got in a car accident (not in this car thankfully), so this car has been getting about 1-2k miles per year, oil+fluid changes, radiator flushes, tire rotations, every 3 months no matter how much she has driven it. The mechanics of the car are perfect. The outside..is not. It has been parked under the same tree for 15 years, the side of the car facing the sun is completely messed up. The paint is faded to no end. There is rust where the window rubber should be, and there is a small dent on the side skirt. The driver side however, is perfect. Paint appears new, no dents or dings, no rust. I have a question about the hood. The hood appears as if it was bird-pooped on about 500 times, only in small portions. There are small white dots littering my black hood, and waxing/buffing did no good. Moving on..the clutch. It isn't a problem, just something that catches my eye now and then. When I put the shifter into fourth, when I let go of the shift ****, it APPEARS to pop into neutral. A quick tap and I know it's in fourth, but it still looks like it's in neutral. Do I need a clutch adjustment, or what?
Next, I am looking to purchase an intake/exhaust for the car. Any recommendations as to who I should go with (brand-wise)? Which ones do you have good experiences with? I'm not far into the world of Rotarys..I've worked on a TII, but not extensively. Normally I work on piston engines..Any tips I should know as a newcomer? Any comments are greatly appreciated.
