JHB Performance?

I am building a Frankenstein S5 13b for my '85. I am thinking of getting one of the housings refurbished and stumbled across this J.H.B. Performance - Cermet-Coated Rotary Engine Components
Would it be worth going with these guys or getting Goopy to refurbish them? Any help is appreciated.

i haven't heard anything about JHB in years... and the last things i heard was that their cermet coatings still weren't adhering and were having peeling issues. add onto that that they weren't refurbishing the parts you sent but just grabbed anything they felt like using off the shelf and sent those back is a little bullshit if you ask me... people were getting stock port housings back after they sent ported housings to them and the engines were losing compression in short order due to cermet peel.

the condition of the parts determines what kind of refinishing can be done to them. currently the only alternative so far has been to remove a portion of the stock chrome surface. if there is flaking beyond the chrome layer then the housings will always give lower compression figures regardless. if the housing is merely untrue, chattered or has minor gouging then they usually can be 100% salvaged to like new.

i do not speak for Goopy but we both do similar processes on the housings, just on separate coasts. i believe Goopy is working on a rechroming process, it is outlawed completely in nevada(chrome is some nasty **** and a major carcinogen) so i have not even remotely looked into it.

I know some guys in the drag scene who have been resurfacing housings similar to Karack and Goopy for years. This technique works well and gives you good compression on otherwise mediocre housings.

If you search for old posts on JHB, there was some negative feedback. Turblown offered a similar product, but I never heard much about their offering. Turblown still offers the service. You message Elliot to see what he says.

Thanks guys for confirming my suspicions, I was afraid of that but now think I will definitely go with Goopy. Thanks for this though
