JDM and USDM Series 5 taillights difference

I bought some rx7 series 5 89-92 taillgihts for my 86 rx7. When i put them in I noticed that they were shorter than my originals ones. They are about 2 or 3 inches shorter. Is something wrong here, or are they different. Also the guy I bought it from said it was JDM, could that be another reason why they are shorter?

definently vert tails. do the taillights have an extra little black space after the lens in the inner part? if not then they are vert tails

In case anyone's still wondering, there is no difference between JDM and USDM taillights. Those advertising taillights as JDM ("super rare!") are just conmen.

they have to be vert taillights because on convertible (at least s4's) the key hole is right next to the right light. I just got s5 vert lights for it, fits perfect but not center black piece. Personally I think it loos alot better with the little extra space between the lights, I didn't get the center section when I got mine, also they fit perfect, no grinding what so ever.

They might be European tails. Remember, their license plates are MUCH wider than ours so their tail lights are much shorter.

lol......no they arent.....yes, there are plates on the front just like us...but they do have rear plates!

and yes, the european tails are shorter also....but the difference between euro tails and vert are on euros, one side has a reverse light, the other has a red light... so if you have a red light where one of your reverse lights go...then they are euro lights...... if not, then they are vert tails and you got screwed! the reason vert tails are shorter is because part of the taillight goes up w/ the trunk..

now im not sure of euro (european) lights and vert lights are identical in size, if so, then you can try to find a european liscense frame....... or just paint the center in between the lights black.....

i would just re sell those lights to someone w/ a vert, and buy the right ones!

I believe that it was the S4 tails that had Turbo written on them, in the same font that is on the intercooler. It was on the black plastic near inner corner.

Importedboi, I think I am familiar with the lights you bought. The owner (Van N.) had a F/S post at this or some other FC forum for convertable tail lights. I began corresponding with him via email, and I thought we had a deal. I then left town for a week. Upon returning I discovered he sold them on ebay instead. Really pi--ed me off. I later checked his ebay sale and recognized that his discription did not mention convertable, and pix was for coupe lights. I called him up and told him the buyer probably thought the lights would be for a coupe, and that if the seller contacted him about a return, I would still be interested. He never contacted me. So, if you are interested in getting rid of them, I will buy at your ebay price. Call me at 972-289-3598.

Woohoo! Lets all post something about me thinking plates are only mounted on the front of cars in Europe. Honest mistake,I'm not big on anything from Europe.

It's not rice at all. It's a genuine factory badge that tells you exactly what's under the hood. The fact that it wasn't originaly available in the US doesn't change that. It's no different to a factory V-TEC badge.

Now it it were in 12" high stickers down the side of the car, that'd be completely different...
