my pro pak did nothing for the power gas milage or performance of the car i got it mostly for the theft safety. it will be useless until you really get into the mods and most poeople that i have seen are running more than one box (MSD's) good to have but not worth the buyin until you are pretty far into your mods

Pawel,

Hey welcome to the forum.

New wires are good every 30K tuneup. Better wires are good when combined with an upgraded ignition system (spark amplifier), larger fuel injectors, more boost, etc..

Exhaust upgrades including downpipe (1st catalytic converter), catback exhaust, performance cat (or straight pipe in your case) will net you ~25-30HP. Part of this is from another 1PSI of boost (6.5 vs OEM 5.5 in the 86-88 years).

Note I'd recommend getting a good boost gague (not autometer) before doing a performance intake.

Boosted cars experience a bit of boost creep when you mess with exhaust & intake - thus you need to montior it.

The rest of Stage I upgrades (~230fwHP) are normally:

Intake:
Performance intake, cold air box, stamped headlight cover airscoop (check www.mariahmotorsports.com for all 3 of those):

Exhaust:
(see above)

Stage II (~280fwHP) gets into maxing the OEM fuel system (defender & fuel cut devices), pushing ~8PSI, and a full gague setup including boost, air/fuel, exhaust temperature, and coolant temp.

You can also change pully ratios, supsension upgrades, recovering lost HP (electric fan, no a/c, no power steering), etc..

Stage III (~350fwHP) is normally when you need an aftermarket ECU. Getting the ECU FIRST is also a great idea vs spending money on "hack" devices like defenders and defeaters.

Here your looking at fuel system upgrades, larger turbos, minor engine port, ECU, etc..

Stage IV gets into adding more fuel injectors, 3 rotor engine upgrade, etc..

Of course this is a basic upgrade path. Check some of the 300-450+HP cars for a good list of devices.
