j spec 13bt install

ok I have an '87 non turbo rx-7 that i am just wanting to drive around and go fast (not really as a street car). I was initially going to supercharg (i had the manifold plans and system worked out) but the time invested to HP ratio was not there. I have decided to get a j sepc 13bt motor and use a differant engine managment system. I really want to go haltech but the price is a little high. I was thinking maybe msd dis ignition and a piggyback fuel controller then getting it tuned on a dyno. is this doable or stupid? I do not care about everything just plugging up because i do not have any of my emissions or cold start on my N/A now. I am only using the o2 sensor, injectors, a few factory sensors, and my ignition. I planned the same on my turbo motor. I just want it to crank up and run and i do not care about streetablilty. Would getting a turbo ecu and harness, msd ignition, and then a apexi fuel controller be enough or would i just have to get a haltech? Let me know. What complications are there?

You need basically a tii parts car to do it 'properly'.

Really can't say from experience, but from my understanding, you really don't need a new EMS or MSD or anything like that to make it run. I don't think that you'll see much gain on a stock TII motor. Money would be better spent on a bigger turbo, IC upgrades, etc. Only after some serious modifications there will you need to start looking into the aftermarket fuel controllers, ECUs, and ignition boxes.

Do a few searches on the swap subject and you should turn up quite a bit of help... You should also be able to find info on what upgrades are necessary when. (e.g. the stock fuel pump will handle up to xxxhp, bigger injectors are needed when you go over xxpsi boost, etc). Sorry I don't have the details here but there should be quite a bit of info behind the search button...

You would need an aftermarket fuel pump, and you would need all the stock t2 sensors and ecu, and it would suck cause you would have a stock turbo car for more money then buying one.

If you are gonna do the swap do it right so the car turns out faster than a stock t2, make it worth it.

I just finished dropping in a t2 motor, still trying to get haltech working.
