Okay, i just went fmic, and i said i wanted to retain the a/c and p/s. needless to say, he had quite a task ahead of him. but, he did it, and damn it looks/feels good to go front mount. here are the pics...

hm...i guess arch needs a pic of the fmic....well, i cant remember the exact dimensions of mine, i just know its 6" tall because i wanted to keep my front bumper supports. so i specifically looked for a 6" tall intercooler.

Garoad 07-09-05 02:33 AM

thats a shit load of pipes. i dont know shit about Turbo FCs but im guessing the reason why its all curvy is because you kept your a/c and p/s? without the a/c and p/s you'd probably run it straighter right?

DocMazda 07-09-05 02:36 AM

pretty much. if i didnt keep a/c or p/s, then it would be a hell of a lot shorter, and pretty much straight. but, once i go electrical fan and koyo alum. radiator, then that huge curve near the fan shroud will be eliminated, and it should be considerably shorter. right now, i am just indulging in the fact that the car runs almost perfectly as far as idling and boosting is concerned. its almost like driving a normal car!! but, the shortening of pipes will be a future application. right now, i am saving money to go to japan, so its kind of on a back-burner until i get back and save more money!!!

Garoad 07-09-05 02:55 AM

awesome shit, whats your plans next?

DocMazda 07-09-05 03:00 AM

put in my wideband o2 sensor, install my piggy back fuel controller, then put in a boost controller w/ boost gauge. probly just keep it at 10psi max. then, get the minor electrical glitch straightened out, and install my full audio system, vacuum the shit out of it, get a nice air freshener, and enjoy it until i go full ems. maybe i will do that when i get back from japan and before i go to school full time till i graduate. you know, gotta have a badass car in college years, its your prime y'know?!

Looks nice, the pipes make the engine look a little messy, but I`m sure with an electric fan it would look better.

Archangels 07-09-05 03:21 AM

wow, i'm jelous, i'm so taking those pics too the shop, they have no where to pipe 2 1/2 inch tubing since i have AC and PS still....

yep that looks approx. what my front mount will look like, though i can see my foggies have to go....

:(

SonicRaT 07-09-05 03:40 AM

Yeah, no doubt, that's some serious piping there when you could've mimicked greddy and snuck in next to the PS pump!

RETed 07-09-05 03:50 AM

Wow, lots of pipes! :D

Get rid of the POS rad and get a REAL upgrade rad! :D

ilike2eatricers 07-09-05 04:50 AM

p4nc7 07-09-05 11:15 AM

NICE, do you know your oil temps after the FMIC?

Archangels 07-09-05 11:47 AM

whats the diameter on the greddy piping kit?...

MARTIN 07-09-05 12:07 PM

whats the diam of the piping you used? Im guessing greddy is 2.5 or something around there.

RotaryEvolution 07-09-05 12:32 PM

Greddy stages their piping from the turbo to the throttle body, i think it goes through 3 phases.

that thing is also pretty damn close to the positive terminal of the battery is it not? that is not a good thing...

I'd worry mroe about the engine torqing and crushing that pipe. The battery should have the cover on it or have a boot over the positive terminal.

Garoad 07-09-05 04:25 PM

that GReddy piping is soo sweet. god im learning so much now since i check the 2nd gen forum first instead of the lounge.

Actually it only goes through 2 phases of sizes. I cant remember exactly what size but when I recently put on my front mount on, the piping from the turbo to the intercooler end tank is one size, and from the other end tank to the throttle body is the other bigger size.

RXTek 07-09-05 06:35 PM

That's a lot of pipes. When I made my "kit" I ran a straight shot to the throttle body side and kept the power steering and AC. Just went right over the top of them... There's only about an inch between the pipe and the belts but there's enough room between them and the hood. I moved the battery to the passanger bin, and the pipes are really close to the oil filler. Maybe someday when I get a camera I'll post some pics. By the way my piping is 2.5

RETed 07-09-05 10:52 PM

GReddy piping is typically 60mm.
It's slightly smaller than 2.5".

slpin 07-09-05 11:23 PM

the extra piping is for extra cooling! :)

yeah check these out. i just finished this project not too long ago. i cut the pipes myself andhad a friend weld them. seems to fit good. i kept the A/C and P/S but had to relocate the battery.
