internal oil leak on T2 motor wid 7000 mi

I've gotten my mazda rebuilt motor back in may... i put about 7000-8000 miles on it..... last week, i've noticed that there was a oil leak (well almost a drain) when da motor is running.... Bret D. of Rotary Performance in Manassas, VA put the motor in.... now I need to put in a new motor and MAzda is covering the motor itself, but i gotta pay for the labor.... what i want to know is what could have caused the oil leak? i've been told that it's the O ring... any ideas would be appreciated...

I did'nt get all your message. I missed the part about where the leak was a leaking. If the leak is on the left top side of the engine, and leaking where the housings meet each other, then yes indeedy there is a about 1/2 inch oil passage in that area that has an rubber o'ring at each joint.Go to http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and download it, then go to section on lubrication, page 2-2 and you will see in the picture where this oil passage is.

I know you probally don't want to do this but did you consider doing the engine install your self? Not sure if it would void any warrentys but if mazda will not cover the labor it maybe an option.
