I just wanted to run a few things past people and see what they thought,

I rebuilt my engine 3,500 miles ago. 88 FC na, I have this internal sound coming from the engine. Not at idle, But if i rev it a tad and the rpm is coming down i will hear it. OR on start up,
Sounds like a Rotor Smacking the housing? OR oil pump chain hitting the Cover. However i cant pinpoint it. The only way i think i could figure it out is on a total failure where the problem is Clear, OR to take the engine apart.

Now I do not know how close the oil pump Chain comes to the housing. Or maybe I didn't tighten Something enough. I do not know, However i figure its almost impossible for the rotor to be hitting the housing and have the engine still run with compression.
I would think that an Apex seal would break first. At Any rate. I figure someone in the past might have had the same issue. And i could maybe get an idea what i am looking at. Thanks

if it's a ratcheting noise it could be your downpipe.

 

its more of a knocking. I can sorta feel it

 

Something very bad happen, Anyone ever have an Oil pump chain come off? What are the odds of that happening?
