Arrow Intermittent no start....update...

OK...I checked the voltage at the fuel pump connection...its at 10.5 or so volts on start up...even on a no start the pump runs...it just seems no fuel is getting to the rail till it wants to...but unhooking the hose at the rail...starting starts fuel running...then she always fires up...I reinstalled a fuel pump purchased at Rotary Performance in Dallas a couple of years ago, checked and cleaned all wiring contacts on the fuel pump module....

Hmmm...Have you checked the fuel line run (near the tank & under the car) for kinks?

What about the pump somehow not "priming" itself theory? You don't have some kind of "homemade" pickup tube sitting right at the bottom of the tank, do you?

nope, none of that pick up tube stuff...totally stock...I will however recheck for kinks but I don't think there is any....that switch in the AFM could still be causing a problem, eh?

Yes on the new fuel filter....I have not however checked the actual voltage on a no start episode, even though the pump runs it could be at a lower voltage perhaps to a malfunction in the AFM as pointed out by WAYNE88

I thought you stated that the pump was always running, even on a no-start? If that's the case, the AFM is good...

There's a check valve near the pump somewhere, I've never had to find it & play with it, but I've heard guys talking about it, and it makes sense to have one in the system to maintain pressure on shutdown. Find that sucker, and play with it. Take a look at it, see if it's clogged, sticking, etc...That's the only thing in the line between the pump & the line you're pulling off (besides the filter).

I'm glad you asked me that....to clarify...jump the blue to the B/W wire...looks like two B/W wires there...do you mean the one that runs thru my cutoff swith to the fuel pump...not yet...

Ha ha, I already 'splained that one- the B/W MIDDLE wire (which should be the one you used for your cutoff switch). And you don't have to physically remove the wires from the relay, just shove a jumper in between the two at the terminals on the bottom of the relay (make sure it stays put)...If you get another no-start with the jumper installed, your problem is NOT the circuit opening relay, the AFM, or all the wiring up to that point...
