Interior Lighting/Stereo All Wierd...

So I was screwing around with the placement of my head unit, and suddenly my hand hits some wire (cant see it because its under the HU and somewhere in the back) and something sparks. I try and turn the HU on, but nothing, its dead. Later I find out that the dome light, and the lights on the door are getting no power, as well as the clock resetting to 1:00 every time I turn the power on then off again. So basically I never noticed any of this stuff and just noticed the HU not working problem, so it turns out its not getting power. So I was messing around and decided to just go straight from the battery to see if it works. It does, and I leave it like that for a bit, then later I realize the other problems that happened. So then I just basically made a Y connection, Battery-< then it split off one went back to the original source, and the other went to the head unit, and the clock, lights, and everything else functioned normally, car off or on. So basically it seems to be a good temporary fix, but i'd like to fix the main problem. Could it be a blown fuse somewhere so the stuff isn't getting power, and i'm just force feeding it a different source? Where does the 12v trail go back to as far as all of this stuff thats being lit up suddenly?

The reason that the head unit and lights don't loose power is b/c of the wire you have run.

It is either a blown fuse (most likely) or if you held the wires together long enough, you fried the wiring going to it (unlikely, but possible). The OE wiring runs through the ignition switch (acc leads) and turns off with the car. That is why there are 2 power wires running to the head unit (one for memory and one that is switched with the ignition)

I can't remember off-hand and am too lazy to look in the FSM for the wiring schematics to see, but I believe the clock wiring is tied into the radio wiring (one big mess in the dash)

The fuse box is under the driver's side dash....I think....I hate having my FC 2 hrs away in storage....can't go look

Why would the stock wiring go through the ignition for those things though? If they were done that way, then the clock wouldn't hold its charge to store the time, and when you remove the key from the ignition, the dome light wouldn't stay on when you opened up the door.

well, you could've damaged the constant power wire going into the dash.

I believe the constant power wire feeds the clock and radio instead of seperate wires. you may have pulled the constant loose on accident reaching up in there....
