Clean and paint? There is a dupli color interior paint that people here have posted pictures of how theirs turned out and it looked good to me,

Add in a trip to the junk yard for new seats.

Carpet is cheap aftermarket if yours is worn out, or a good steam cleaning will do wonders if it is just stained.

If you are feeling crafty a trip to your grandmothers fabric store and a can of spray glue can add a cool touch....

Interior is about time, taste, and preference....it isnt hard, or really expensive unless you want it to be.

Check the for sale section here, I see good stuff all the time. A custom dash might be spendy but if you do repaint your interior the quality will only be as good as the prep work.

i would say buy the carpet and components like that and then paint the actual trim pieces black to save money...

The price of trim is not as expensive as you would think. Painting the old trim is fine as long as it's not brittle but it sucks to spend all the time painting and then just have it crack upon installation.

Black Dragon sells a carpet set for under $300. I just got mine and while it's not in the car yet, it looks good and comes with the stock underpadding as well.

Black Dragon and Mazdatrix have basically all the interior trim as well. Your local Mazda dealer can supply you if you bring part numbers (check parts catalogs in FAQ). Most trim is still available.
