intercooler fan?

okay I looked around and found a whole lot of threads about intercoolers and thier positioning , and a whole lot of debate (mostly flaming) and had a simple question ,
has anyone mounted a efan on thier intercooler..?

say a SMIC (or moved the stock TMIC off to he side) and added .. say a 8-10 " efan
..I'll probably get flamed for this idea , but it popped into my mind while reading some posts and thought I would ask if its been tried and if it works
in theory it should stop the TMIC from getting heat soaked at idle

this is all assuming that the fan can push as much air through it as driving at highway speeds

I'm thinking about relocating my battery .. maybe that might be a nice clear area for it?

so what are your thoughts?

your posting at 1am . not many people will be replying
i'd say. hey. it wont hurt. go for it. if your putting the IC in a spot that isnt getting direct air flow. its a good idea.
if your running 2 efans i'd be curious about how much output your alt is doing and how much power your actualy using up but you should be just fine.
dont let guyz flame you for your idea. even if its stupid or not.

There is just really no point. A electric fan is only so reliable, and why have a fan cool it??? It's not necessary to cool air at idle, and once you get moving, anything above 20MPH will *probably* cool better than any fan can. seriously....just THINK about it....

Find a fan that can push air at 60-70 mph and then try to fit in your engine bay...let alone run off the cars electrical system.

Hope you're not still using the PS/AC (or just AC) bracket, because that would likely cause some fitment headaches with a SMIC. Especially with an e-fan on it.

I am not aware of anybody who has popped an engine due to heat soak at idle. This is probably because I am also not aware of anybody who has built an engine that is in high boost at idle. If you can search and find any threads on this forum showing somebody who has blown their engine due to heat soak, please post it, as I would be interested in reading about it. Otherwise, I don't see much point in worrying about it.

Fans increase airflow through the heat exchanger up to about 30-40mph vehicle speeds, but after that they become a restriction. You need to decide if it is worth reducing the high speed performance in order to increase the low speed performance.

lol I know it wont hunt the car in anyway , but after I've been sitting at a few stop lights in town for a few minutes on a hot day , I notice a difference when I pull away , just thought it might be a simple solution to that problem
After reading a few posts on FMIC vs. TMIC , curiousity got the best of me and I figured I'd ask around

this is what I was looking for , only 30 - 40 huh ....
So I guess it's not really worth the effort then
well thanks for the info
