So when I say people don't know, I'm not commenting on their technical knowledge or anything like that, but just that many, if not all haven't seen many decent Honda/Acuras to make the call. High school kids in their civics don't count. We got plenty of those here too.

No offense to anyone.

Your gona get beat by a GS-R if

a) you are a bad driver he is a good driver
b) you are a bad driver he is a bad driver
c) you are a good driver he is a good driver

you will win if

a) you are a good driver he is a bad driver

odds are stacked, but rotaries respond well to mods compared to the b18 it should be even ... record it ! lets see it

I had a 99 GS-R ... so I'm familier with the car. In fact, I drove Hondas when they weren't cool, and drove them up to the point where the ricers just made them too embarrassing to drive.

IF the car is a GS-R...
If this is a 94 or a 95 then it's pre-ODB II and it will respond a lot better to mods then the later ones. It's also about 50-60 lbs lighter than the later GS-R's since they had less stringent safety regs.

The comment about having the rev advantage just isn't true... I shifted my GS-R at 8400 rpm just before the rev limiter cut in, which WILL bring you back into VTEC from the 1st to 2nd Shift... Anyone who knows anything about GS-Rs will tell you that the weak point is the gearing between 1st and 2nd (done to meet fuel economy/emissions regs).

One thing that you do have going for you Hondas come from the factory pretty highly tuned to begin with, so the amount of improvement the same mods make won't be significant as they are in other brands of car, which are more detuned for reliability. Also there is a lot of crap on the market, so some of his mods may have hurt his performance rather than improved it.

If it's an LS, GS or an RS then you should take him easily.

The key thing you can do is improve your driving. A good driver can make up for a lot. Find a drag strip that does test and tune nights, preferably one that is not crowded. Pay your entry fee and get as many runs and timeslips as you can. Work for consistancy, then improvement. Make notes about the run on your timeslips (after you make the run, don't count on remembering an hour later) Note launch RPM and and little things that you do differently each run. If you can, have a friend who drag races come along with you to interpret the times and to give you pointers. Getting good feedback on your driving is the important thing, because with going to a track, you have timeslips to chart your progress and if you get enough runs, you will improve quite a bit.

Take it seriously, because a GS-R in the hands of a good driver is a very fast car. Anyone who says differently obviously hasn't been up against one with a driver of any skill or caught one on a bad night. By improving your driving... then you can show him (if nothing else) that the same is true with an RX-7. A good driver in a slower car WILL beat a moderate driver in a faster car.

I've never lost to any honda/acura so I don't think you should worry too much. I raced my friends 91 integra, he's got headers, intake and what not so fourth and so on, anyways about 3am one day we ripped up and down the ave a couple of times and I smoked him every time by at least a car length or more, just rev the **** out of er and go!

94+ Integra GS-R's will usually smoke 91 Integras by 5+ cars lengths.

Of course they'll say the samething about the RX-7 that everyone else seems to try to believe. They'll say they're slow and unreliable...til they meet the wrong one (for that matter...nearly ANY one) and they change their minds and join here.

Anyway...GS-R Integras' are very quick cars man...if your car isn't up to par (running stock AND better) then you're gonna get waxed assuming he's a good driver. Also remember the S5 cars are heavier and slower than the S4 (not a huge difference...BUT still a difference). They have 14 extra ponies but about 200 lbs more weight (that does NOT even it out). Either way work on yourself as a driver then worry about him...btw you need more than a cat back though ...hurry and get the other mods while you can.

P.S
Damn...do all of you street race, why my friends...why?
Please be safe guys...I don't like reading about "kills" (you catch my drift) in FC's .

if you don't have an exhaust and do have some time, GET ONE.. a ghetto crush bent 2.5" exhaust from a muffler shop will cost you less than $100 and will improve your performance dramatically..

your 6PI DOES work, right? because there's no way you're going to win if it doesn't.

You mensioned it, but I'll say it again: get rid of all the crap that doesn't need to be there... make sure your air filter and oil are recent...

The underpad under the rear carpet weighs a friggin ton, get all the crap out of your storage bins, spare tire/jack, etc

make sure you have 40+ PSI in your front tires, 28-32 in rears...

make sure you take a big crap before the race?

I dunno... I've raced a stock GSR and kicked its ***.. but that was in a TII

my stockish FB will take on a Civic SI easily... but the GSR is modded so I dunno... I think it will be close, they're evenly matched cars..

I dont know if this matters but I beat an Integra GSR with my 86.5 NA Supra and my supra only has an intake and exhaust. My rx-7 is stock and it isnt much slower than the supra.

You said you did this in an N/A? Sorry man, but that C5 wasn't racing you IMO. The only way you're gonna run with a C5 is with a massively modded N/A (to the point of not being reliable at all), modded turbo or a huge shot of N2O.

i've been looking, and i think i was wrong.... it may not have been a c5, but it was a newer corvette (from 97+). It was just a base model, and he was def. racing bc he got on it first, and i have my friend in the car with me, and a few ppl behind me who saw the whole thing.... he was def. racing.

I have raced my good buddies 94 teg many many times with my FC. Hic teg is an ls non vtech, I think they make around 150hp stock. His mods were...
Iceman CAI
Cat back
Rims with decent tires
Konis with coilovers

My 87 sport only had an intake and cat back.

With some good driving this is a very close race, you should jump ahead at the line bu t he will catch up the faster you go. My friend and I have split this race overall and my car is not that great, I think you can take him. Just don't be afraid to beat on your car let those revs climb.

PS. Does anyone else just love the sound the dash makes when you push it to 7500rpms??

Its enjoyable watching highschoolers with 60 posts talk about taking out C5's and WRX's with NA FC's.

first, im not in high school, second i know you may not believe it, but i have plenty of witnesses who saw it.... maybe it had something wrong with it, i dont know, but he was def racing, and i beat him from a roll. So i dont know y you feel the need to run ur mouth about stuff you dont even know. In addition, if you read the thread correctly, he never said that he took out a WRX, he just said that he kept up with it til 3rd, then it pulled away. So once again, dont run ur mouth until you know what you are talking about bc in the end, it just makes you look that much dumber.
