Nordskog makes a nice digital unit that has a good range of temperatures - and it isn't too expensive either. The Analog Autometer ones are about 4X the price of this one.

I use this one. I bought it from a local electronics supplier but the link is for the AutoSpeed store, who'll ship internationally. It's very cheap, but it does have two disadvantages. It's not back-lit, so you can't read it at night, and it's fed by a 1.5V button battery. However it's accurate and quick-responding, and is working great for me. It has a useful high or low temp alarm too. Mine's currently set at 40degC (104degF) and you wouldn't believe how often it goes off in normal driving. Damn TMIC...
